Matt Brown

Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Matt establishes the company’s strategic business goals and enables the workforce for success. He has more than 25 years of IT and cybersecurity consulting experience and is widely viewed as an expert in the field, serving as a frequent speaker and contributing to numerous cybersecurity-related publications. Under Matt’s leadership, ShorePoint has become a trusted cybersecurity leader, helping customers solve challenges with innovative zero trust, data integration, digital transformation, and security operations solutions.

Prior to ShorePoint, Matt was a co-founder and Vice President for Knowledge Consulting Group (later acquired by ManTech International), where he managed and delivered cybersecurity services to a wide range of public and private sector customers. At ManTech, Matt served as the Division Manager for ManTech’s Cybersecurity Solutions Division, supporting federal civilian, intelligence community, DOD, and private sector customers. Matt has supported the DHS CDM program since its inception.

Matt holds a master’s of business administration with a concentration in information security and a bachelor of science in accounting in integrated science and technology from James Madison University. He also holds the Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) and Certified Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) certifications, among others. Matt serves on the Suburban Hospital Foundation Board, is Chair for University Engagement of JMU Federal Dukes, is the president of his neighborhood Community Center Association, and actively supports the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Scott Ackerman

Co-Founder & President

Scott is responsible for the day-to-day operational activities that enable successful mission delivery to customers. He has more than 25 years of IT and cybersecurity experience spanning business development, capture, program delivery, and execution success. Under Scott’s leadership, ShorePoint has been recognized as a great place to work, a fast-growing company, and a top technology firm in the greater Washington, D.C. area.

Prior to ShorePoint, Scott was a co-founder and Vice President for Knowledge Consulting Group (later acquired by ManTech International), where he successfully developed and led cybersecurity efforts in both public and private sectors. At ManTech, Scott served as the Vice President for Civilian Programs, overseeing a cyber portfolio for federal civilian agencies.

Scott holds a bachelor of business administration in computer information systems from James Madison University and holds several industry certifications, including Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), and Certified Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC).

Rob Palmer

EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT AND CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER

Rob leads the exploration and understanding of the latest methodologies, concepts, and capabilities that align with the objectives of both ShorePoint and customers. He leads the company’s high-performing technology team, driving innovative practices in security program design and operations, zero trust architectures, incident response, enterprise business application services development and maintenance, mobile, and cloud strategies. An influential IT executive with 25 years of experience, Rob’s success spans the areas of information assurance, security monitoring, and incident response, as well as technology governance, adoption, and transformation.

Formerly, Rob was a senior executive with the Department of Homeland Security, where he served in multiple positions, including Deputy CTO and Executive Director for Strategic Technology Management. A visionary leader, he combines strong technical abilities, analytical reasoning, business acumen, and organizational change expertise to foster collaboration and cross-agency partnerships leading to accelerated results.

Rob has received awards for his technology leadership, innovation, mobile technology, and thought leadership. Most recently, Rob was named the 2021 Cyber Executive of the Year by the Northern Virginia Technology Council. He holds a bachelor of science in education from Salisbury University and a master’s certificate in program and project management from George Washington University.

Ryan McCullough

EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT AND CHIEF STRATEGY OFFICER

Ryan leads the company’s go-to-market strategy, business development, and capture functions. He also guides the intellectual property (IP) development for ShorePoint. He is an adept problem solver and enjoys collaboratively generating creative ways to solve complex challenges. With over 25 years of IT and cybersecurity solutions experience and a strong background in security-enabling technologies, Ryan has helped drive ShorePoint’s leadership in zero trust and cybersecurity data integration in an ever-evolving cyber marketplace.

Prior to ShorePoint, Ryan served as Senior Vice President at Govplace, where he developed and evolved that organization’s Federal strategy. While there, he served in multiple roles supporting the organization’s growth trajectory, including oversight and leadership of sales, business development, capture, engineering, program management, and service delivery. Previously, at GTSI (now UNICOM), he supported multiple government agencies through the development of programs and solutions that achieved defined business and operational objectives.

Ryan has been recognized for his success in driving innovative solutions that enable positive business outcomes for government customers. He is a graduate of the Industry Advisory Council Voyagers Program for leadership development and industry/government collaboration. He is active in numerous industry associations such as ACT-IAC and has served on partner advisory councils of major manufacturers such as Dell/EMC, Forescout, HP, and others.

Ryan earned a bachelor of science degree in government and politics from the University of Maryland.

Sherrie Nutzman

EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT AND CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER

Sherrie is involved in all aspects of ShorePoint’s rapidly growing operation. She has over 20 years of experience in administration and operations, including accounting and finance, human resources, security, contracts, proposals, and facilities management. With a spirit of collaboration and teamwork, she has implemented policies, procedures, and systems that enable business continuity and flexibility to best serve employees, partners, and customers.  At ShorePoint, Sherrie has been responsible for significant company initiatives, including managing the company’s ISO 9001:2015, ISO 27001:2013, and CMMI SVC III certifications.

Prior to ShorePoint, she held a similar role at Knowledge Consulting Group, until the company was acquired by ManTech International.

Sherrie graduated from George Mason University with a bachelor of science degree in accounting and from Shepherd College with a bachelor of science degree in communications.

John Rafique

VICE PRESIDENT, RECRUITING & RETENTION

John is a staffing and recruiting professional with 13 years of experience.

He began his career in the engineering division at Aerotek, a global staffing agency, where he focused on system, hardware, software, and cybersecurity engineers. John later served as a staffing consultant for private and public sector customers, transitioning later to in-house recruiting for government-focused systems integrators, and staffing multiple programs for intelligence and national security organizations.

John received a Cybersecurity Excellence Award and was named the 2023 Cybersecurity Recruiter of the Year – for all of North America.
