We are seeking a Security Engineer who has experience operating and maintaining McAfee endpoint security software for purposes of managing security configuration settings against defined security hardening guidance and policy and reporting on compliance status in the federal market. The Security Engineer (McAfee) is responsible for operating and maintaining the following capabilities for the CDM DEFEND A agency: McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) of different sizes and other ePO-managed endpoint products, including but not limited to Whitelisting and Policy Auditor, in Government customer environments. Serve as a member of a diverse team of experts providing world-class operations and maintenance support demonstrating thought leadership in maintaining and integrating the McAfee endpoint security management capabilities. The candidate will work closely with the CDM solution architects, testers, training teams and the agencies themselves to ensure a successful operations and maintenance of McAfee CDM capabilities.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Serve as an all-inclusive McAfee Expert for the CDM program within the DEFEND A agency/components
  • Perform ePO health checks for ALL CDM ePO servers and provide recommendations on a way forward
  • Assist in the integration of the CDM ePO servers across/within agency components
  • Perform research and assess the impacts of system modifications and technological advances on the system’s security
  • Implement protections
  • Installation and use of firewalls, data encryption and other security products and procedures
  • Monitor networks and systems for security breaches, through the use of software that detects intrusions and anomalous system behavior
  • Investigate security breaches
  • Apply federal and organizational directives to manage system security operations.
  • Report on threat actor capabilities in order to clarify the details of security requirements or approaches and to implement solutions

 Required Skills

Technical skills include:

  • Expert-level knowledge in McAfee suite of capabilities/products
  • Knowledge of risk assessment tools, technologies and methods
  • Expertise in designing secure networks, systems and application architectures
  • Planning, researching and developing security policies, standards and procedures

  • Deep understanding of the overall CDM program
  • Endpoint security solutions, including file integrity monitoring and data loss prevention
  • Cloud (AWS, Azure, etc.) platform as a service (PaaS) security

Education Requirement

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other Engineering or Technical Discipline

Years of Experience Requirement

  • 5+ years of information security experience with a focus on network, application and architecture
  • Specific Information Security related experience including encryption, IDS/IPS, Firewalls, SEIMs and Log Management, syslog analysis, HTTP and TCP/IP analysis, and vulnerability assessment
  • Knowledge of email security gateway, cloud and virtual technologies

Certification Requirement

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information System Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) or other equivalent certifications preferred
  • Supporting technical certifications
